    Its crazy how experiences vary and are so subjective. The Coolist channel ranked Live Aqua as the #1 resort in Punta Cana, calling it "exceptional " and compared it to the service of the St Regis and the Ritz Carlton. These kind of videos are supposed to help viewers if they should book, now I am just very confused as to what it's really like.

    • @VoyagerGuru
      @VoyagerGuru 2 дні тому

      Hey Ashley! Thanks for reaching out. Coolist is a great channel that provides a lot of insight into a lot of great hotels. However, our approaches are different. If you take a look at our channel, we do hotel reviews with a consistent rubric that we use in order to avoid it being so subjective. Our approach to reviews is less based on our individual experience and based on the experience guests can anticipate as a whole at a resort. We do this because we have had a number of years of experience in hospitality and marketing so we understand what’s a front versus what’s real. While the comparison to the st Regis and the ritz Carlton may make live aqua seem really high end, it depends on what ritz or st Regis he is comparing them to - lol. We have not stayed at the live aqua in Mexico but we did hear that it is significantly better in terms of service and food. If you need any help making any decisions or have any questions about resorts in punta cana, feel free to DM us on Instagram or reach out to team@voyagerguru.com. Xx, maren

    We are happy to be there in 2 weeks. Sorry for the silly question but has the sea clear water at the end of Juli/Aug too?. I know that there is raintime and I don‘t know if it could be an impact on the water. And what is an appropriate tip for the Hotel staff for a 10 Day Holiday for 2adults with 2 Kids? Thanks for your nice Video and impressions.

    • @VoyagerGuru
      @VoyagerGuru 9 днів тому

      Amazing!! you'll have a great time :). There are no silly questions here! so of course it will be affected by hurricanes etc, but the water is typically VERY clear on this side of the coast because of the offshore current and offshore wind so you will have less "crap" coming in with the tides and current. In terms of tipping, we do recommend a few dollars for good service here and there. Typically, I'd say tip for beverage service or your butler if they were great. Tip whatever you are comfortable with :). If you have bad service, don't worry about tipping. I hope this helps!

    Looks like you both had a beautiful experience. My wife and I are relaying heavily on videos like yours to help us narrow down between staying in Bora Bora or Tahaa for 5-7 nights. Island hopping would be fun, but we decided to pass on that and keep it simple. Could you tell me rather the Le Taha’a property offers jet skis for an additional charge?

    • @VoyagerGuru
      @VoyagerGuru 14 днів тому

      Hey! Thanks so much for your comment :) that means a lot to us! Tahaa does offer jet skis and jet ski tours, as does bora bora. I’d say ultimately it comes down to what you want to do on vacation - tahaa is much more laid back, very quiet and relaxing and not much traffic around on the water- that snorkeling is unreal. It’s a bit more “low key”. Bora bora will be more active, there’s lots of hotels and access to the mainland shopping and restaurants. It’s a bit more touristy and we found the show to not be as good as it was at tahaa. They’re both excellent for different reasons, but I think it ultimately is about deciding whether you want to have a low key, no shoes vibe or a more active, accessible vacation. Happy to help if you need anything or have any other questions :)

    • @MountAthosandAquinas
      @MountAthosandAquinas 14 днів тому

      @@VoyagerGuru Thanks for taking the time to lay out your experiences at both and help us make a better informed decision. Based off what you have written, our vibe about the two locations seems to be confirmed. We are really leaning the Tahaa route but that could change. Both Le Bora Bora and Le Tahaa look stunning. Just to confirm, the property resort of Le Tahaa has jet skis on property? We aren’t sure if we want to do a guided tour or just our own adventure. Also, you might not know the answer to this, but my wife and I attend Mass every Sunday. We would love to do so in Tahaa. Does the resort assist with transportation to and from the nearest Church? Obviously there are none on the tiny motu. Any insight would be great.

    • @VoyagerGuru
      @VoyagerGuru 14 днів тому

      @MountAthosandAquinas anytime! Happy to help :). So they did have jet skis when we were there - I would confirm they still exist though pre booking via their concierge. You never know- they could have died and not been replaced so definitely I recommend asking. For church services - there are a few churches on Raiatea and the hotel does have scheduled transfers to the mainland so they should definitely be able to help you with getting over there :) while you’re there you can also check out the vanilla and pearl factories!

    • @MountAthosandAquinas
      @MountAthosandAquinas 14 днів тому

      @@VoyagerGuru Yes! The pearl/vanilla farming are definitely on our to do list. Looking at ATV rides that stop by those locations. The resort is so beautiful (and that coral garden) that our reasons to leave the motu will be very few (ATV, Vanilla farm, pearl extracting experience, Mass, and maybe Jet ski). Thank you for answering my questions and I will reach out to the resort to confirm about the jet skis. Your reviews are excellent. Thanks again

    Hi there! We got back from SE Asia last week and spent three nights at this hotel. Your review was very accurate… maybe I enjoyed the room a bit more. Maybe a light refresh could help, but it didn’t take away from the character. Overall it was a superb hotel and the staff was amazingly friendly and hospitable. There are a small group of international staff here: there was a French Canadian concierge who was so helpful and I believe the general manager is actually Indonesian. Could some of the staff use a bit more experience? Maybe but I think they were still so genuine and happy to be able to serve you. Heh Juliane! Thanks for your comment!! So only the main restaurant and bar are included on half board. The specialty restaurants are extra but they have slightly lower charges to the items (ie if the fish specialty is $60 normally, you’d pay like $30 or $40 as an example). Snorkeling equipment is included and they do a great job fitting you with the gear. You can keep it for your whole stay and the snorkeling is incredible. It's certainly closer to the airport than a lot of hotels, but there's a give and take since that makes the transfer much easier from Malé. Properties to the west of Malé, like the crossroads complex seem to get less air traffic than this side does. It didn't bother us a huge amount, but it's certainly something that happens on occasion. The boat traffic is also heavier in this area.

    Not sure of how much better you've done for yourselves financially compared to 11 years ago, but your lux Cambodia videos were very very out of touch with what's actually going on.. 1. You can get much much better and more beautiful boutique hotels that are better than any of the ones you picked for much much less. Around $35 a night in a lot of places. 2. If you had the Grab app on your phone you could take tuk tuks all over the place for $1-1.50 each ride, not $5-10. 3. You can rent a tuk tuk for the ENTIRE day in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap for $20-25 a day, even for a driver to take you to Angkor Temple and wait for you and take you back for that price. Not $75. 4. You over paid for food everywhere. You can go into many many restaurants and pay $2.50-$3.50 per meal even as a foreigner. Not that you spoke about it but you can get a 2 bed 2 bath beautiful modern western home for $250-350 a month or less.

      @delayedtraveler Thanks for your comment! Our channel caters to Luxury travelers. While there are plenty of experiences and accommodations that are wonderful on a budget, those aren't for everyone. Different travelers enjoy different styles and price points to travel. Overpaying is a matter of perspective. Actually from the sound of it, you also overpaid for most things, because you can get hotels, food, and transport all cheaper than the prices you listed (if you want to). $75 was the price for an air conditioned car ($35/day) and a sanctioned Angkor Wat Tour Guide ($40/day), not sure you can beat that 🤷‍♂️ You can get an $18 tuk tuk to take you to all the temples for the day, but that doesn't come with a guide, and it's also not an air-conditioned vehicle, which is the point we were trying to make. There are plenty of channels that focus on traveling on a budget, local experiences, backpacking, documentary film making, street food etc.... but that's not our channel. It looks like you made some good videos of your own about your travels, you should keep making them! There's no one way to travel. Have a great day, and happy travels!

    Hi Maren! Thank-you for sharing videos and experiences! Which country would you choose as a 2nd home between those 3 countries?

      thanks so much for your comment! that's a great question... I think Mauritius is the most "accessible" from a shopping, dining and beach experience. Seychelles is a lot more islands-based so you're traveling around via ferry or flight and it can be very expensive so I would consider Mauritius. Madagascar is very raw and also involves a lot of travel. If I were to choose, I think I'd go with Mauritius :). xx, Maren
